BINAM-AZ Scholarship Program

Application Requirements

Be sure to read the eligibility criteria carefully before you apply to the Binam-AZ scholarship program. Applicants who do not meet the eligibility criteria will be automatically disqualified.

Except for the reference letter, all required application materials listed below must be submitted in one package, using the online application portal. Any incomplete application package will be automatically rejected.

Documents to submit

  1. A copy of your national identity card or your school identity card.
  2. A proof of GCE Advanced level or Baccalaureat (transcripts or diploma).
  3. One letter of recommendation from current or past instructor or other person in a supervisory role familiar with the student’s academic and financial qualifications. Letter of recommendation must be emailed directly from the referrer to:  baz.fund@gmail.com  (prior to deadline: November 30th, 2025).
  4. An Essay on any (1) of the (3) topics listed below. The essay should be written in 1000 words with a margin of 10% more or less. Line spacing 1.5; font, times New Roman and should include the applicant’s full name at the top of the essay.
  5. Show a proof of registration to a Cameroonian university or college for the school year 2025-2026(1)
  • (1) You can still apply even if not yet registered at a Cameroonian university. However, you will be required to show proof of registration prior to any scholarship award.

TOPICS:

Subject 1: An Overview of Health Infrastructure in West Cameroon

The candidate must address this topic in the form of a dissertation, building their argumentation on at least 3 of the 5 points listed below:

1 – Comparing health infrastructure between urban and rural areas in west Cameroon.

2 – Access to health care in rural west Cameroon.

3 – Maternal and Child Health Services in West Cameroon.

4 – Public-Private Partnerships and Their Role in Improving Health Infrastructure in West Cameroon.

5 – How Traditional Medicine and Modern Health Facilities Coexist in West Cameroon.

Subject 2: Twins in Bamileke Culture

The candidate must address this topic in the form of a dissertation, building their argumentation on at least 3 of the 5 points listed below:

1 – Spiritual and Symbolic Significance of Twins.

2 – Traditional Rituals and Ceremonies.

3 – Social Status and Family Honor.

4 – Taboos and Cultural Restrictions.

5 – Modern Influences and Cultural Shifts.

Subject 3: Ancestor Worship and Christianity or Islam Among the Bamileke.

The candidate will choose to work on Christianity or Islam, not on both

The candidate must address this topic in the form of a dissertation, building their argumentation on at least 3 of the 5 points listed below:

1 – Historical Roots of Ancestor Worship in Bamileke Culture.

2 – The Arrival and Spread of Christianity or Islam in Bamileke Communities.

3 – Tensions and Conflicts Between the Two Religious Belief Systems.

4 – Syncretism: Blending of Christianity or Islam and Traditional Beliefs.

5 – Modern Interpretations and the Future of Bamileke Spiritual Identity.
